Easy Color By Number 1-5 for Summer

My kids love to color, so these easy color by number 1-5 worksheets have been a fun way for us to practice our numbers. I’m really excited to share these fun summer-themed worksheets with you!

These activities were designed for kids in preschool, to help them learn about numbers and counting from 1-5. They can be adapted for toddlers through 1st graders using the suggestions included in these plans!

How to Use the Easy Color by Number 1-5 Worksheets

Color by number worksheets are a great way for kids to practice and learn their numbers and colors. Preschoolers will use the key at the top of the page to figure out what color corresponds with each color. Then, they need to match the numbers on the picture to the numbers in the key to color the picture.

As kids color each picture, they will reveal a fun summer-themed object. Kids can guess what they are coloring as they work, and then see if their guess is correct when the picture is finished.

Color by number worksheets are also a fun way for kids to practice their fine motor skills. The ability to color within the lines of a shape is a skill that children develop over time. These easy color by number 1-5 worksheets will allow your child to practice that skill in a fun context!

Adapt the Easy Color by Number 1-5 Worksheets for Your Kids:

For Younger Kids:

Help them use the key.

The hardest part of a color by number worksheet for a younger child is using the key to figure out what color to color each shape. You can make this easier for them by coloring a small amount of the correct color on top of each number in the picture. Then, kids will just need to match the color on the picture with the color of their crayon to finish coloring on their own.

For Older Kids:

Color by Code.

For older kids, color by number can be more challenging by adding something different in each square. Maybe they can color by letter, matching letters in the key to letters written on the picture. Or, maybe they match numbers in the key to math facts in the picture.

Create Your Own Picture.

Older kids may also enjoy drawing their own easy color by numbers picture for a younger sibling or friend to solve. They will need to draw a picture and then add shapes in and around the picture. Then, they will need to create a color key and add numbers to each shape.
