Homeschool+ – The Best Online Homeschool for Kindergarten
As a busy homeschool parent, I’m always on the lookout for curriculum options that make homeschooling my kids easy. Online courses are often a great choice for busy homeschool families because they allow kids to work independently, even at young ages. That’s why I was so excited to hear about Homeschool+, an online program that provides a complete online curriculum for homeschooling. It’s from the creators of ABCmouse and Adventure Academy, and it allows kids to learn a wide variety of subject areas at their own pace. If you’re looking for the best online homeschool for kindergarten, here’s why you will want to consider this new app.

I received compensation and access to Homeschool+ in exchange for my honest review, but all the opinions in this post are my own.
Homeschool+ Online Homeschool Curriculum
Homeschool+ is a brand new online homeschool app from Age of Learning, the creators of ABCmouse and Adventure Academy. This platform offers a complete homeschool curriculum for kids ages 4-8, who are in preschool through 2nd grade.
The app features adaptive learning programs for reading and math so that kids get daily practice on the skills that they need to work on most.
It also includes 12 additional online courses in language arts, science, social studies, art, and foreign language, which means it’s all you need for a comprehensive kindergarten homeschool curriculum.

Homeschool+ For Kindergarten Online
Because Homeschool+ is a complete curriculum for kids ages 4-8, it includes core subjects, electives, fine arts, and more for each grade level from preschool through 2nd grade.
Adaptive Math
The math program inside Homeschool+ is called My Math Academy.
In My Math Academy, little learners meet the Shapeys, fun characters that always seem to need help from your child to solve problems. Kids can send the Shapeys on adventures while learning new math skills along the way.
My daughter immediately fell in love with the Shapeys, and she is now asking to play Homeschool+ daily. “Can I help the Shapeys now?” This is a great way to encourage a love of learning in our kindergarteners!
The math curriculum starts with a comprehensive assessment to determine which skills each child needs to know and where to begin in the lessons. As a former classroom teacher, I love that the math lessons are customized for each child’s homeschooling journey. The math lessons meet each child where they are at and help them develop the new skills they need most.

Adaptive Reading
Another important component of all of the best online homeschool programs for kindergarten is reading, and Homeschool+ is no exception. Because reading forms the basis for everything that kids learn in elementary school and beyond, daily reading practice in My Reading Academy is another critical part of this curriculum.
My Reading Academy is also adaptive, which means it starts with a comprehensive assessment process to determine kids’ prior knowledge in reading. From there, the app creates a customized homeschool experience for each child, focusing on the skills they need.
Because Homeschool+ is adaptive, it’s a good option for kids with special needs and kids who are learning at a level ahead of or behind the instruction that’s offered for their age group in traditional schools.
The reading skills covered include phonics, vocabulary, kindergarten sight words, reading comprehension, and much more.

12 Additional Classes
In addition to daily practice in math and reading, Homeschool+ includes 12 more classes that kids can complete to round out their homeschool day. These topics include:
- Grammar and writing
- Science- including animals, the human body, science experiments, and thinking like a scientist
- Social studies- including community citizenship, geography and cultures, and map skills
- Art
- Spanish

Reasons To Try Homeschool+ for Kindergarten Homeschool Online
My kids have both enjoyed using Homeschool+ so far. And, as a parent and former teacher, I love both the excitement from them and how easy Homeschool+ is for me. Here are some reasons Homeschool+ might be the best online homeschool for kindergarten for your family.
Encourages Independence
As the parent of a kindergarten student, I’m always looking for online learning programs that my daughter can use independently. This can be tricky, as many online classes require reading to navigate through the class. I was so impressed by the way that my daughter quickly figured out how to use Homeschool+ on her own.
We used Homeschool+ on the computer, and I wasn’t sure how she would do it because she has not used a computer independently before. I was worried that she would struggle to control the game with the mouse. Fortunately, the very first activities we tried started with practice in using the mouse and controlling the characters.
I also love how everything that kids need to read is also spoken out loud. For example, when we try to exit a program, we need to click a yes or no button to confirm. But, when my daughter hovers her mouse over the button, the program says “yes” and “no” out loud. This means that absolutely no reading skills are required for kindergarteners to use this app on their own.
It is so fun to see how proud my daughter is that she can complete the online lessons in Homeschool+ all by herself. And, now she has a head start on those computer skills that she will need in the future!
Focus on Math and Reading
As a former elementary teacher, I know how important it is that kids focus on reading and math early in their educational experience. Whenever I look at a homeschooling kindergarten curriculum, I’m always looking for a strong focus on reading and math, and I love that Homeschool+ focuses on these subjects first.
Kids get daily practice with the adaptive lessons in math and reading, and this will help them remember what they are learning as they get a chance to review each day.

Adaptive Math and Language
As a teacher, I know that one of the biggest strengths of Homeschool+ as a homeschool kindergarten curriculum is the fact that the math and reading lessons are adaptive. This means that the curriculum learns what our kids know and don’t know, and then chooses lessons to help them take the best next steps in their homeschool journey.
One of the biggest reasons to homeschool is the fact that we can meet our kids where they are and customize what they are learning so that it meets their needs exactly, no matter what level they are at. And the best homeschool programs will help us to do that as parents, just like Homeschool+ does.
The math and reading curriculum starts with the quiz, which helps the program determine kids’ knowledge in each subject. This is a comprehensive quiz! It took several days for my older son to complete it, and it was fun to see his confidence grow as he remembered all of the math skills that he knows.

Comprehensive
I also love that Homeschool+ includes a wide range of courses. Kids can learn about science, social studies, art, Spanish, and more. Each of the individual courses includes 12-20 lessons that include video lessons and online activities. The lessons also include suggestions and detailed lesson plans for follow-up activities that you can do with your kids offline. I love the way that Homeschool+ makes it so easy to build real-life connections with what my kids are learning in the app!

Fun Activities
Each component of the Homeschool+ online homeschool curriculum includes interactive games, videos, and fun activities designed to keep kids engaged and make learning exciting.
I love that Age of Learning has taken the kinds of interesting and high-quality activities that my family has come to know and love from ABCmouse and Adventure Academy and offered them specifically for homeschooling!
I think my 4 year old said it best. “Kids should play this game because I love it!”

Focused on Learning
When we have tried other learning apps in the past, my kids have often gotten distracted by the open-ended environments they often have. I ask my kids to practice math, but left to their own devices, they go off to watch videos in the library or customize their avatars instead.
I love the way that Homeschool+ helps my kids focus on the subject that they are practicing. During the lessons for each subject, the only thing on the screen is options to practice that subject.
I can trust that my kids are actually practicing math, because it’s the only thing to do, with no other distractions.
Fun Rewards
Homeschool+ does a great job of gamifying the experience for kids and making learning fun. My kids were excited to see their progress bar grow as they completed activities in the lessons, and my daughter was SO excited when the characters had a dance party to celebrate her progress!

Parent Progress Tracker
As homeschool parents, it’s important that we can monitor our kids’ progress when they are working through online homeschool programs. That’s why I love the parent progress tracker in Homeschool+.
I could log in with my password at any time to see my kids’ progress in each subject area in real-time. The dashboard shows which skills my kids have completed and what they are working on now.
Plus, I love that I can click on any of the individual skills to see a quick video of how Homeschool+ is teaching that skill, a description of why it’s important, and even some extra ideas we can use to practice outside of the app!

Lesson Planner
Another great feature of Homeschool+ is the lesson planner.
Homeschool+ creates lesson plans for each of my kids automatically, which is perfect because I don’t have to spend time on lesson planning. My kids can just jump right into lessons that are created just for them.
But, I can also log in to make tweaks or changes to our kindergarten schedule at any time. It’s easy to set the amount of time for daily math and reading practice, turn off or on other lessons, and add or remove activities with a single click.
And, because I’m starting from a lesson plan that’s already created to make my changes, I can do this in just a few minutes each week. This is a great time saver for busy homeschool families!
Great for Multiple Kids
I also love how easy it is to use Homeschool+ in a family with more than one child. All you need to do is create a profile for each child, and the app will customize their learning for them. And, it’s easy to switch between children on the parent dashboard, so I can monitor everyone’s learning from the same place.
