How to Use the Easy Dot to Dot Printables
These easy dot to dot printables are a fun way for kids to learn about numbers and counting. All your child needs to do is to draw a line between the dots, counting in order. But, this is a great way for them to learn several important math concepts.
Easy dot to dot printables like these teach kids the order of the numbers in counting. Memorizing the numbers in order is the first step in teaching a child how to count. Kids can usually say the numbers in order before they can actually count that number of objects accurately.
Dot to dot puzzles are also helpful because they force kids to slow down and count the numbers one at a time. Has your child ever started counting so fast that they begin to skip numbers? This is common with younger kids. By using these easy dot to dot printables to practice counting instead, your child will need to slow down and won’t be able to skip numbers when practicing.
And, dot to dot puzzles are great for kids who are practicing their fine motor skills and handwriting. While your child is working on their dot to dot, this is a great time to work on using a good pencil grip. This is a skill that kids develop over time, with the goal of holding a pencil correctly by age 6.
Kids can also practice their pencil control as they work on the dot to dot. This is self correcting, as the child will be able to see if they were able to connect their line to the dot or not. These easy dot to dot printables were designed with larger dots to make this task easier for younger children.
Adapt the Easy Dot to Dot Printables for Your Kids:
For Younger Kids:
Count out loud together.
Younger kids may still be learning the order of the numbers, and so counting out loud with your child as they work on the dot to dot puzzle can help. Saying the numbers out loud is also a great way to help your child remember them better. It will cause your child to engage multiple parts of their brain, which helps with memory.
For Older Kids:
Guess and check.
OIder kids can guess what the picture will be before they draw it. Most of the pictures have clues to make this easier for kids. After they finish drawing, they can check to see if their guess was correct.
Create Your Own Picture.
Older kids may also enjoy creating their own dot to dot pictures to share with a sibling or friend. They can use tracing paper on top of a chosen image to add dots, or they can create their own image. After they number the dots, their puzzle will be ready to complete.
