Why We Love Dr. Robin’s School for Homeschool

My kids have really enjoyed the curriculum from Dr. Robin’s School of Pre-Medicine. The videos are great resources for a human body unit study. Here are some of our favorite features of Dr. Robin’s School.

No Prep Required

Many homeschool science curricula require a lot of prep from the parent to teach the lessons. As a busy homeschool parent, I love that Dr. Robin’s School requires no prep work at all. When it’s time for science, all I need to do is log in to the website and help my kids choose a video that they are interested in.

Because Dr. Robin’s School is so easy to use, I found us including it in our homeschool lessons almost every day. My kids often ask if we can watch a science video, and this is an easy way to add in some science whenever we have a few extra minutes during our homeschool day.

No Supplies Required

Another thing that I love about Dr. Robin’s School is the fact that for most of the lessons, no additional homeschool supplies are required. When the lessons do ask for supplies, most of the required supplies are common household items, like a piece of paper and something to write with.

The beginning of each video includes a supply list. This makes it easy to gather the supplies that are needed for the lesson.

Flexible

One of my favorite things about Dr. Robin’s School is how flexible the curriculum is. Although the videos are organized by body system, they can be watched in any order.

I always try to give my kids choices in our homeschool whenever I can. As a teacher, I know that when my kids choose what they want to learn about, they will learn better and remember more. I love that I could let my kids pick the video they wanted to watch from the choices in Dr. Robin’s School.

Independent Learning

Another huge benefit of Dr. Robin’s School is that it allows kids to complete their human body study independently, without the help of a parent.

As a busy homeschool parent, a video-based curriculum like Dr. Robin’s School is one of my favorite tools. I love being able to give the videos to my kids to watch on their own. This gives me time to work one-on-one with one child, while I know that the other child is still engaged in learning. This is a great strategy for large family homeschooling as well.

Perfect for Any Age

Although Dr. Robin’s School is designed for kids in 3rd through 8th grades, this curriculum will work well for a wide age range. Younger kids will still be able to get a lot out of the explanations, because Dr. Robin uses simple language to explain complicated concepts. And, the explanations are detailed enough that even older students will enjoy the curriculum.

Dr. Robin also has a podcast for older students who might be interested in a future career in medicine.

Dr. Robin

In my opinion, the best part of this curriculum is Dr. Robin herself. One of the first things I noticed when my kids started watching Dr. Robin’s videos was her skill in being able to speak to kids. Dr. Robin is a homeschool mom herself, and this is apparent from watching the videos. She explains complicated concepts in biology in a way that even young children can understand.

I love that Dr. Robin also has the credentials of being a doctor herself. She has a thorough knowledge of human biology and how the different body systems work together, and she shares many interesting facts with kids throughout the videos.

Explanations

The explanations of the human body systems and how they work that are included in Dr. Robin’s School are excellent. Dr. Robin goes in-depth, not just teaching kids about the body but also explaining why it works the way it does.

My son has always been a very inquisitive child and he asks lots of questions about how things work. He has been able to get all his questions answered just by watching Dr. Robin’s videos.

I also love that although the explanations use simple language analogies that kids can understand, Dr. Robin does not simplify the concepts for kids. These videos would be appropriate for a wide variety of grade levels because the information included in them is very in-depth, even though the explanations are simple.

Parents of younger students should note that Dr. Robin does cover a wide variety of diseases in the videos. If you have a younger student, it might be a good idea to preview the videos or watch them with your child so that you can address any concerns that may arise about these diseases.

Accurate Information about Human Biology

It can be hard to find videos on the Internet that have accurate information, and I love that I can trust the quality of Dr. Robin’s videos and the information included in them. Because Dr. Robin is a physician, I know that the information my kids are learning is correct.

I also like that these videos are faith neutral. There are no references to evolution in the videos. Homeschool parents should also know that human sexuality and the reproductive system are not covered.

Engaging Homeschool Science Videos

My kids were fascinated by Dr. Robin’s videos. The videos feature Dr. Robin talking to the students, but her interesting descriptions of the major body systems held my kids’ attention.

My kids also loved the demonstrations that she used to help explain concepts. The video where Dr. Robin dissects a chicken was fascinating to my kids. This dissection was such a great idea for an easy experiment! I always assumed that dissections were too difficult to do at home, but this would be possible to do with my kids.
