Live Online Technology Classes for Homeschoolers 

My son has always been interested in technology and has been asking to learn about computer programming and coding for a while. But, I don’t have strong background in those skills. I have been looking for an opportunity for him to learn about technology from an incredible teacher, and that’s why I’m so glad I discovered Computer Technology – Elementary from MYTEK LAB. MYTEK LAB Online Technology Classes

MYTEK LAB is an online platform designed to provide quality technology education to students, including homeschoolers. It offers a a wide variety of classes for kids in grades 3-12 in computer technology, information technology, and computer science. All of the classes are taught by Mr. and Mrs. MYTEK, Stephen and Jacky Saunders. Families have the option to choose from live classes which are held on Zoom or Flex Pace courses that include updated lessons that kids can watch on demand.

Flex Pace Learning

One of the things I love most about MYTEK LAB is the flexibility to watch the classes whenever it’s convenient in our family’s schedule. I’m really excited that MYTEK LAB is offering even more flexibility to homeschool families with their new Flex Pace courses.

With the Flex Pace option, families will get access to recorded classes that are released weekly. These classes are regularly updated to make sure that kids are always learning about the most current technology.

The Flex Pace option allows kids to engage with lessons and materials at their own pace. Rather than having to attend a live class at a specific time each week and complete assignments by the due dates, kids can learn at their own pace and on their own timeline. This option offers even more flexibility for busy homeschool families and for kids who need more time to understand new concepts or complete the projects.

My son is very interested in STEM topics, so I have spent a lot of time over the last few years trying different technology and coding classes for kids in elementary and middle school. This is encouraging for homeschooling parents like me, who do not have a background in tech. I love that all the lesson planning and teaching is done for me. This means that I don’t have to be a technology expert myself in order for my son to have access to an excellent technology education in my homeschool.

The real-time interaction that happens during these live courses is invaluable. The classes take place on Zoom. This means that these small group classes allow for immediate question-and-answer opportunities in the chat. Mr. and Mrs. MYTEK do a great job of engaging with the kids during the classes, making them feel welcome, and making sure they understand what to do. Additional support is also readily available through email, which makes it easy for parents and students to get their questions answered outside of class time.

I also love that with MYTEK LAB, kids are not just learning technology skills. There is also an emphasis on social skills and community building. Mrs. MYTEK begins each class with an opportunity for the kids to come and connect with her and each other. And, kids have the opportunity to share their completed projects in the online gallery, where other kids can view the projects and leave encouraging comments for the creators.

Flexible Replays to Watch On Demand

My favorite part of MYTEK LAB, and another reason that it’s one of the best online homeschool programs out there, is that they offer on-demand replays for all of the classes. With two young kids and a busy schedule, I appreciate that we don’t have to plan our entire week around these classes. Instead, we can watch the lessons at any time that’s convenient for us. When we had another commitment come up at the same time as our MYTEK LAB class, I didn’t have to stress out or reschedule things, and my son didn’t need to miss his class. We just watched the replay the next day.

What I especially love about the replay videos is the freedom that this gives my son to work at his own pace. I love that when my son gets stuck or can’t figure out a step in his project, we just pause or rewind the video. This feature is invaluable for elementary-aged kids like my son who may need a bit more time to understand new concepts. More often than not, simply rewatching the section answers his question. This is always a relief because it means that he can keep going right away with the next step of his lesson, and he is always so excited when his program starts working again. 

I also think he’s learning to pay attention and follow directions because the problem is usually that he wasn’t paying attention to details and he missed a step. I know this attention to detail that he is practicing will serve him both in our homeschool and in his adult life and future career.

Project Based Learning

As a teacher, I love that the MYTEK LAB curriculum is focused on project-based learning. From the very beginning, everything that kids are learning is applied as kids engage in building and coding real projects. The great thing about this approach is that it’s not just about learning technology for its own sake but applying it in a hands-on, meaningful way. 

The Computer Technology – Elementary class starts simply, teaching children how to navigate the computer by creating pixel art. This is an excellent way for kids to practice that combines computer skills and visual arts in a way that’s both instructive and fun.

As the school year progresses, students quickly advance to coding their own video games through a user-friendly, drag-and-drop platform. But the learning doesn’t stop there. Over the course of the full-year class, students get to explore a variety of topics including web design, programming, 3D modeling and printing, and robotics. 

What makes this approach so effective—and enjoyable—is that kids are motivated to learn. The projects they create aren’t just exercises; they’re cool, functional, and shareable. There’s a sense of purpose in the learning and a tangible goal that keeps students engaged. If there’s one thing MYTEK LAB excels at, it’s making the homeschool technology curriculum fun for kids. I love that my son asks every day if he can log in to MYTEK LAB to work on his projects. Whenever I can find a homeschool curriculum that my son is asking to do instead of the other way around, that is always a win! I love that the program engages him at his grade level while making complex topics like computer science approachable and enjoyable.
